The Hustler Blogger Award – Nomination 3-25-2020

I want to  express my appreciation and gratitude to my good friend Brandi of Couch Talks with B who nominated me with this award and to the creator of this award Mark Anthony of Thony Space. This award was created to give writers a space to those who share and inspire others through their blogs. Any type of blogger can be nominated for this award from fashion bloggers, to short-story writers to poets, lifestyle bloggers etc. Let’s keep this going and connect with different writers who share and inspire us with their content.

Questions

  1. Why did you start a blog?

I initially started my blog as a space to test out different writing styles and techniques and to push my creativity in different directions. Along the way I met some amazing people on this platform who have helped me in so many ways and in turn my blog became a space to record my thoughts and feelings and also being inspired by the amazing people I came across on here over the years.

2.What/who inspired you to do it?

I initially looked at my blog  as a place to test out different writing styles I was learning such Langston Hughes and Maya Angelou and I wanted to get away from imitating other writers and create something I was comfortable with.

3.What motivates you to keep pushing and creating content and make your site alive?

My motivation is that I have a goal of posting 2 posts a month regardless of how busy I am and to record my thoughts and feelings at that time and treat my blog as a journal. My goal isn’t to attract likes even though its great but more so to record my ideas and feelings and connect with other people who might be on the same wavelength as me in trying to be the best versions of ourselves that we can be.

4.Who are your fave bloggers? And how do they urge you to grow as well?

I am grateful in coming across a lot of wonderful writers on this platform and will mention some in the nominees. I am inspired by their honesty and their creativity and also for letting us immerse into their world such as my good friend Brandi who writes so eloquently and whose words are full of life.

5.What lesson/s have you learned through your experience?

I would say I learned to be myself more and  be authentic to my voice. I wouldn’t write something I didn’t believe in. I learned also to connect with the writers you like and show them your appreciation and also that it’s coming from a genuine place and not on some follow me/follow you thing but that you really like their work and appreciate what they do.

6.Have blogging brought impact to you as a person? If yes, what are these?

It’s made me more confident in my writing and being able to express my thoughts and feelings in a candid way.

7.Not everyone are confident enough to start a blog. What advice can you give ’em?

  • Be yourself and don’t worry about any outside noises-just create and share.
  • Don’t second guess or doubt yourself.
  • Share and be able to let others into your world.

8.Give 3 facts about you as a blogger (strengths or flaws)

  • Flaw- I don’t post as often as I would like.
  • Strength- I try to post what I think is my best work.
  • Strength- I strive to never post something I wouldn’t want to read.

9.Drop down your blog post which you are most proud of (together with the link so we can read it)

The one that comes to my mind often is a piece I wrote titled Humanity It was a piece I wrote in a short amount of time and I was inspired by a story in Egypt where an old romantic poem written thousands of years earlier was found near an old well and I realized we’re all connected in some way and that maybe generations from now our blog-posts will be inheritance for those of tomorrow.

  2. Congratulations on this award! I love it when people I respect and admire are also admired and recognized by other people. Thank you so much for the nomination, I appreciate it. I’ve been completely away from my blog lately due to all the things going on in my personal life, on top of all the crazy we have been encountering with COVID-19, and I am afraid it has utterly sapped all my strength right now. I sincerely hope you are doing well and are not experiencing any kind of loss or health due to this pandemic.

  3. Like how you talked about posting things that you would want to read. That’s a good way to look at your writing. The reader in us may lead us to improve the writer in us. And experimenting with all different styles and forms is so important for improvement as you bring up too. You had a lot good answers to these questions. Thanks for a shout out, too! Wasn’t expecting it but much appreciated.
