To Heal

I use to associate the word ‘healing’ for things like cuts or bruises

and I would only need either a band-aid or rubbing alcohol to take the pain away,

but along the way

the sorrow I felt in my heart continued to grow,

and unlike a physical cut or bruise

I couldn’t find a band-aid to cover this pain.

This agony I felt was a reminder of all the signs I missed along the way

Signs that said ‘Dream Opportunity’ or ‘Take a chance on yourself’

but I had chosen safety over all that.

However I learned recently,

that it is okay to start over and you can write a new chapter.

So I start today with the aim of healing,

and I begin with myself.
